Reasons to Vote Republican in November is the Monday Meme

While I think that pretty much sums up the reasons to continue the Republican strangle hold of the last 30 years, what do you think?

Today’s meme is to share thought provoking or just plain amusing campaign ’08 videos, bumper stickers, jokes, quotes or just to rant and rave about government as the spirit moves you. Right here in the comment box or leave a link.

Have a great Monday!

  1. i used to be a “moderate” – whatever the hell that is these days. fiscal conservative, social moderate for the most part. deficit spending? foreign ownership of US debt? Hello? is anyone in the so-called republican party paying attention? Oh – wait. They’re too busy fighting abortion and gay marriage, and making sure the 10 commandments can be displayed on public property to actually deal with the serious stuff… (end rant)

  2. All politicians are first concerned with keeping themselves in power, and if any crumbs should happen to fall off the table for the people, then they are welcome to them. As a republican, I’m not very happy with what President Bush has done. He spends too much, and he doesn’t seem to mind that oil companies and banks are ruining our economy. The democrats are no better. They are beholden to labor unions and trial lawyers.

The U.S. is like a car being driven by a drunk driver. For eight years, we are in the ditch on the left side of the road, and for the next eight we are in the ditch on the right.

  3. Since I am not a US citizen and, therefore, ineligible to vote, my thoughts on this question are likely irrelevant.

However, I am reminded of some discussions I had with work colleagues years ago that were set against the 2000 US Presidential election campaign. At that time, I was more than frustrated with the perpetual governmental rule by the oft-elected Liberal Party of Canada here at home. I believed, at the time, that my own political views ran more towards the conservative bent – both socially and fiscally. Based on that, I allowed to my American colleagues that, given the opportunity to vote in the US, I would be supportive of the Republicans versus the Democrats.

Boy, does eight years of the puppet Bush the younger’s administration ever change that opinion!

But, after listening to the audio book of Michael Moore’s “Stupid White Men”, I’m not convinced that Bill Clinton was any better or any different than past Republican presidents on many different fronts.

I’ve read and heard that the Republican party has been slowly co-opted over the years by small “c” conservatives and other special interests. I’m not sure if the same is true for the Democrats.

In the context of today’s times, it would seem that the Democrats are simply the lesser of two evils today. It’s too bad, probably, that the Bush, Cheney crowd, their crones and minions have corrupted the Republican party to the extent that they have.

By the way, I’ve always expressed a preference for the Conservatives (and their ilk) over the Liberals for governing Canada, but after the Conservatives have held power for a while, it proves that they are no more interested in moving the country along in the right direction either.

All politicians will lie to you. But, fortunately, you can tell when they are lying. How? Their lips are moving.

  4. Some of my favorite reasons:

    – Because it’s easier than thinking for myself!
    – Because my church told me to!
    – Because I’m greedy, and believe that the republicans will help my bottom line!
    – Because I’ve always voted Republican, just like my Daddy did, and even though the current platform is ALL ABOUT big government, deficit spending and wars without end, I haven’t paid attention. So i still consider myself a Republican.
    – I hate dirty hippys. They deserve Aids, poverty and a shitty economy.
    – I can make my boat payment. The economy is good…
    – Obama is a terrorist. Can’t have that, now, can we?
